The Rooibos plant Aspalathus linearis, is indigenous to South Africa and only grows in a small area in the Western Cape region of South Africa. Botanists first discovered the plant in 1772 although the indigenous people in the area have always used the tea in their daily lives.

Dr Annique Theron was responsible for creating an awareness of the magic of the Rooibos plant in recent times when she made the amazing discovery in 1968 that Rooibos Tea not only alleviates allergies internally, but also externally. The Tea had such a calming and soothing effect on her own allergic baby daughter that she wanted to share this knowledge with mothers all over the world. She was surprised at how quickly the tea relieved infant colic, allergies and insomnia. At that time, there was hardly any information available on the natural therapeutic properties of Rooibos Tea. Dr Theron set out to find out as much as she could about this wonderful plant through her own studies. She wanted to be able to exploit the plant's unique properties to its fullest potential.

Rooibos tea is rich in minerals and anti-oxidants and is anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic, caffeine-free and low-in-tannin.
